Commissioners Aren’t Focused on Fixing Real Problems
For many families, every month is a balancing act. The grocery bill, the gas…the kids. And after property taxes have increased by ~24%, residents expected commissioners to get serious about the issues that matter: fixing roads, keeping costs down, and growing the local economy.
Instead, Commissioners Cory Moates, Jack Garner, and Myra Frazier are pushing ahead with permanent countywide zoning, complete with a new government department, permanent staff, a permanent budget, and permanent authority over what Cherokee County families can do with their own land. Once this machinery is in motion, it doesn’t stop. It stays in place long after the Commissioners who approved it have left office.
The Commissioners have placed the recommendation in the hands of an unelected bureaucratic body to make decisions over your land:

What We're Asking County Commissioners and the un-elected Zoning Commission to Do

- 2. Lower Taxes —Stop adding to the tax burden on county families.
- 3. Fix Our Roads — 55% of residents say the county is falling short on roads and bridges. Make it a priority.
